Propellant Tank

Industrial Space Systems is proud to offer Scorpius Type V linerless carbon composite propellant tanks - the world’s most advanced composite pressure vessels and the only commercially available tanks with TRL-9 flight heritage on the Moon.

These tanks aren’t simply lightweight alternatives to metal designs; they represent a breakthrough in propulsion infrastructure. Each tank is built from pure structural carbon composites with no metal liner, providing exceptional strength, durability, and long-duration performance. Their capabilities are validated through real flight missions, including deployment and operation on the lunar surface, and they have also been fueled on and flown aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9, demonstrating compatibility with major commercial launch systems.

Manufactured using Scorpius’s proprietary curing process and trade-secret resins, these Type V tanks maintain excellent structural integrity under high pressures, extreme temperatures, and harsh propellant environments. Their geometries can be customized to meet mission-specific volume, pressure, and interface requirements.

Designed for zero-leak reliability and compatibility with both cryogenic and storable propellants, these tanks support reusable systems, orbital transfer vehicles, satellites, landers, and long-duration spacecraft. With significant mass savings and lunar-proven resilience, they enable the emerging in-space refueling economy, supporting sustainable operations across cislunar space and beyond.
